Background

In order to further promote the effective integration ESD with the school practices across regional and global community, Beijing Academy of Educational Sciences, supervised by the Chinese National Commission for UNESCO, will organize the 3rd International Forum on ESD in Beijing from 13th -16th, November 2007. The previous two forums were successfully in the light of UNESCO Decade of Education for Sustainable Development held in 2003 and 2005 with themes of Education and ESD, and Global Consensus and Local Practice on ESD respectively.

Theme

Promoting ESD: Strategies and Best Practices

Objectives

This coming forum is intended to

  • Share the innovative strategies and best practices at the grassroots level in implementing ESD with regard to the curriculum renewal, teaching and learning, teacher professional development and other innovative strategies for promotion DESD;
  • Roles of government, NGOs, INGOs in promoting ESD at different levels (national, regional and school);
  • Explore the effective co-operation mechanism and follow-up actions on ESD (home and abroad) in the near future
